Poetry: Those funny Australian words.

THOSE FUNNY AUSTRALIAN WORDS!

I’m gonna tell you a little more about Australia.
This time, some of the funny things that we say.
Like, “Let’s throw another Prawn on the Barby!”
and the ever-famous, “G’day!”
There’s also the word, “Fair-dinkum!”
I know that’s a very odd word to you?
Well, it’s the same as saying it’s , “Dinky-die!”
It means what you have said, is True!
Then there’s an oft-used word like, “Tucker!”
This is word if you’re hungry you’ll heed.
Because, when Mum yells out that, “Tuckers On!”
It means, that it’s time for a feed.
We casually use the word “Mate”, a lot.
And always for a friend? Not at all!
Like, “I’m gonna re-arrange yer' head, Mate!”
When we get ourselves into a brawl.
“Mates!”, will often bring their own, “Slab!”
Then it’s “Your Shout!”, are the words that you’ll hear.
No, they’re not carrying great chunks of concrete.
They’re carrying 24 can cartons, of beer!
Some of the words that I really do like.
Is when your “Mates”, term you as, “True Blue!”
It means, even under the threat of death!
They know they can count on you.
“Mateship!” is a very Australian word.
It was born from much hardship, and seeming,
to categorise the Australian way of life.
In this Country of, “Aborigine’s Dreaming!”
