What Makes A Poet!

Does a Poet see life differently than the average person can?
Is a Poets environmental appreciation on a different mental span?
Does a Poet see and hear what to others is just not there?
Or is it that others see it too, but they just never seem to care?

Perhaps Poetry in all its forms and beauty lies dormant in us all?
And those who write words of Poetry do so from some Inner Call.
A need to express what they feel and see by the written verse.
A pull so strong within to write that it could be called a curse?

Perhaps it is a deep desire to enlighten others on how they see life?
Their Poetry can cover many aspects like deep love through to strife.
Perhaps they want to try and put in words natures many different faces?
Or perhaps they get Poetically inspired when they visit different places?

When a Poet looks out the garden window it becomes poetry that he/she sees.
There are words waiting there to be written about the flowers and the trees.
When a Poet takes a walk either along a beach, or maybe a cobbled street.
They find poetry everywhere in what is seen, or even in those that they meet.

Poetry is all around us crying out to be written by those that can see.
And if you can put it all into words then a good Poet you will be.
I think that there is the capability of a Poet lying dormant in us all.
And when the right time comes along that sleeping Poet gets the call!
