A CHRISTMAS TALE!

So many years had passed, finally taking its toll on me.
I was now very hard of hearing and could barely see.
A Pensioner now, living by myself completely alone.
In my pantry very little food, scarcely even a bone.
It was coming up Christmas, it was only just days away.
It would come far too soon for my Pensioner’s pay.
Never in my life had I felt so terribly sad?
I couldn’t think of a Christmas that had been so bad?
Then as I sat there feeling so wretched and poor.
There was a sudden loud knocking at my front door.
I wondered for a moment just who this could be?
Very few visitors ever came to my home, you see!
I very cautiously went and opened the door.
I guessed that it was someone collecting again for the poor?
I felt very guilty that this time I just couldn’t give.
I needed the few pennies I had, just to live.
But this wasn’t a collector as I had guessed.
It was a beautiful young woman, really well dressed.
She smiled and said, “Sir, I know, you don't know of me?
But, you once left a New Dolly under the Myer’s Orphan’s Tree!
Well it was I that received your present wrapped up so bright.
I still cuddle that Dolly, even now, every night.
I wanted to find you and tell you, you see.
Just what your kind gift really did mean to me.
I was all alone in this World and feeling so very bad.
Then you became the wonderful Parent that I never had.
I would lay there dreaming that perhaps one day.
I would find you and if you liked me, you’d ask me to stay?”
Well, I was completely taken back my thoughts were all muddled?
Then I suddenly took her in my arms and we cuddled and cuddled.
This beautiful young woman a gift directly from heaven above.
A new Daughter for me, on whom I could bestow all my love.
My life would now change and finally have some real meaning.
Just days before of death, I had really been dreaming.
Whilst they say Santa and his helpers are not really true.
There must be a God in heaven that watches over you?
See what a wondrous Christmas present this year he did bring.
Hallelujah to God! Let all the bells ring!
