Well got my copy of Far Cry 3 and so far have found it to be a great game of many sequences.
First it is not easy. In fact the start of the games (sequences) are extremely difficult to get through. Unfortunately you'll need to get through this section prior to the rest of the Story Sequences starting. Currently there are no 'Walkthrough's' available to help you on the net so you'll possibly play this part many times before you finally figure it out and get through.

I'm now in the main World and have successfully won out on some 5 sequences, but there is lots to go. The World is a big place and I've only freed up a fraction of it for the locals.

Will report more as I get further into the game.

Difficulty Levels even on 'Easy' are hard. I wouldn't survive at the hardest level.

Might play that after I get through the first time.

Regards

Further update.

Have now played through 16 of 38 Missions.

The missions are separate from freeing up World for Locals in which I have successfully freed up some 6 Zones out of 30 odd.

You have choice of completing Missions or Treasure Hunts or freeing up World Zones in whatever order you want.

Need to do some hunting and treasure hunts to get money for weapons and ammo.

Stuck at moment in Mission covering ancient Chinese Treasure Temple.

This mission is extremely difficult.

Hi further update.

Have now successfully completed some 25 of the 38 missions and currently on one that is again extremely difficult where after drinking a potion given to me by the head of the tribes and under the influence I now have to face the god of the underworld who is a gigantic monster with glowing yellow eyes and who breaths blue fire to kill me. I'm armed with a bow with explosive arrow heads and have to shoot them at its face/mask each time it attacks. Eventually if you are not killed then you are attacked by smaller devils from both sides who you have to kill. Unfortunately each time I get to that stage the little sods kill me. lol!
No doubt I'll figure it out eventually.

Further Update.

Got past that sequence and now at Mission 35. There are in total 37 Story Missions.

All are extremely difficult to get through and made up by several sequences each.

Right now leaving 35 to 37 to take out 'enemy camps' for the local natives and doing challenges and opening up Radio Towers in each region.

The Radio Towers are very tricky to climb to top to switch over from red to green light.

I think at least another day or two to complete all as a very big World out there to cover with lots of enemy camps before I finish the Story Missions.

Finished game.

It is a very big game with over 300 missions and side missions to complete and with the fantastic graphics I can well understand it being given a 9.5.

I personally give it a 10.

Best first person shooter game I've ever played and I've played a lot.

Regards and Merry Xmas to all for 2012.

Still playing with Far Cry 3.

I had finished as far as the main missions and side missions but it's fun hunting the animals with a 50 cal sniper rifle. Very realistic.

Depending where you are on the two main islands that make up your World you can hunt some 14 different animals. (Earlier used skins to make extra ammo bags etc. Now all fully loaded out.)

There are Tigers, Leopards, Panthers, Bears, Pigs, Komodo Dragons, Crocodiles, Cassowaries, Eagles, Rats, Sharks, Mountain Goats, Dingoes and Wild Dog Packs and probably a couple I've forgotten. All can kill you if you're not wary all the time while hunting.

There are some enemy soldiers still at a few places where they have made unofficial camps so you can go hunting them down as well. Doesn't matter how many times you kill them all, they are back next time you play. LOL

Sometimes the local natives come in and help when they hear gunfire. They are cleaning up the remnants on the two islands.

Got to watch them though as they are the craziest drivers you've ever seen. They smash at high speed into one another or drive straight over cliffs or off bridges into the rivers and drown. LOL

Currently playing Multiplayer and Co-OP.

Good maps and loads of fun.

CO-OP is a set of maps telling a story and is played generally with three others as a team against the enemy and your mission is set out. Lots of shooting. Difficult if "Insane Hardness" selected.

Enjoying it immensely.

Downloaded Far Cry 3 extras re "High Tides" which is two new maps at the bottom of the CO-OP maps. Called "Redemption" and "Jail Break". Both are very big maps well laid out over several sequences and excellent graphics again. Play on normal setting can get through but on hard becomes difficult not to get killed often and on insane almost impossible. Got through once on insane after many deaths and many goes.

Still playing Far Cry 3. Mainly Co-op. Slowly getting better weapons re a decoding system where after each game (Chapter) you get discs etc., awarded dependant on whether the game you play with three others is easy to insane in hardness. You then decode for weapon mods. Some are 8 hours and the least is 30 minutes. Obviously you get the better stuff from the 8 hours. One good thing is you can choose the disc to download then switch off your game and it still decodes on the servers so next time you start game it will be there decoded. My current weapons are an STG-90 Stalker Model Auto Rifle, 4 Handgrenades and a Recurve Bow with fire arrows. I'm hoping to decode the STG-90 Hunters model for upgrade. It has more distance and better accuracy and slightly faster fire rates.

The last I will say is if you like first person shooters then purchase this game.

You'll be happy you did as it is so big the value for money far outstrips other games in the first person shooter genre currently on the market.
